IV. LA LIBELLULE DÉPRIMÉE (LIBELLULA DEPRESSA) La véritable libellule fréquente de préférence les clairières des bois et sa larve se développe dans les eaux dormantes mais claires. L'insecte adulte atteint une longueur de 47 m/m mais son abdomen est plus large et plus plat que celui des genres voisins. La femelle (au vol sur notre image) a le dessus de l'abdomen jaune, tandis que celui du mâle (au repos, à droite) est d'un bleu pulvérulent. Sa larve est différente de celles de l'Aeschne et du Caloptéryx. (Voir en bas de l'image). Elle atteint une longueur de 22 m/m. Ses pattes servent plus à la fixer qu'à la mouvoir et lorsqu'elle est inquiétée, elle remplit son rectum d'eau et, l'expulsant ensuite brusquement, elle fait un bond en avant. En répétant la manœuvre elle peut nager en pleine eau assez rapidement. |
