A la ciudad de Ureña se puede llegar tomando la vía que conduce al Aeropuerto Internacional Juan Vicente Gómez, ubicado a 15 minutos de San Antonio. Se creó como municipio el 5 de julio de 1972 por Don Pedro María Ureña. Se ubica al Oeste del Estado Táchira a 310 m.s.n.m., tiene una superficie de 183 Km2 y una temperatura de 26ºC. Según cifras preliminares del censo 2001 su población es de 37.275 habitantes.
Posee una gran actividad comercial, por su cercanía con la República de Colombia. La actividad industrial está bastante desarrollada con variedad de atractivos de la industria del mueble. Ofrece para el desarrollo del turismo tres aspectos de gran importancia: la existencia de aguas termales, la industria y la cercanía con la República de Colombia. Las fuentes de aguas termales se encuentran localizadas a 3 km. al sur-oeste de la población de Ureña. Los brotes de las fuentes se encuentran enmarcados dentro del Hotel Aguas Calientes, de los cuales solo tres son explotadas por dicho hotel; en esta área encontramos (kerosenosa de 30º a 41ºC, pringue de 61ºC, y la sulfurosa de 20º C, ubicados en tres pozos diferentes: Hedionda, San Roque y Santa Lucía, esta última tiene grandes poderes curativos.
Para trasladarse al municipio puede tomar la Línea San Antonio o Transporte Samuel Darío Maldonado en el Terminal de Pasajeros "Genaro Méndez" en la ciudad de San Cristóbal.
