Description
English: Paul Horowitz assumed his duties as Deputy Chief of Mission at the American Embassy in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in August 2015. Previously he served in Washington, D.C. as a Deputy Executive Secretary for the Department of State, where he oversaw the preparation of briefing materials for Secretary of State John Kerry and other Department principals, and led several trips by the Secretary covering five continents.
Mr. Horowitz served as Director of the Executive Secretariat Staff from 2012-2014, first under Secretary Hillary Clinton and then Secretary Kerry, where he was responsible for the support of their domestic and international travel, as well as the preparation, distribution, and records management of briefing materials, correspondence, and other official documents for the Secretary and senior State Department officials. Previously, he served in the Executive Secretariat as a Watch Officer in the Operations Center, the 24-hour crisis management and communications center of the State Department, and as a Special Assistant for Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
Mr. Horowitz’s most recent overseas assignment was in Tokyo, where he served as the Economic Counselor from 2008-2011, responsible for trade policy, as well as issues pertaining to the environment, science, technology, and health. His other postings include Singapore (2004-2008), Beijing (1994-1995 and 2001-2004), and Hong Kong (1996-1998).
Mr. Horowitz speaks Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, and Bosnian. A graduate of Occidental College, he also has master degrees from Columbia University and the National War College at the National Defense University.
Bosanski: Paul Horowitz je preuzeo dužnost zamjenika šefa misije u Američkoj ambasadi u Sarajevu, Bosna i Hercegovina, u avgustu 2015. godine. Prije toga je u Washingtonu D.C. bio zamjenik izvršnog sekretara u State Departmentu, gdje je nadgledao proces priprema briefing materijala za državnog sekretara Johna Kerrya i druge visoke zvaničnike u State Departmentu, te predvodio nekoliko putovanja državnog sekretara prilikom njegovih posjeta na pet kontinenata.
