English: Personnel Specialist 2nd Class (SW) Katie Robertson trains on a leaking pipe during a general quarters aboard amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa (LHA 1). Tarawa is currently underway to participate in FA PANAMAX 2008. This excercise spells the final chapter for the Tarawa which is slated for decommissioning in early 2009. Until then, Tarawa remains ready to answer the nation's call. FA PANAMAX 2008 is a mulit-national training exercise tailored to the defense of the Panama Canal, involving civil and military forces from the U.S. Southern Command area of focus. FA PANAMAX involves more than 19 countries, including forces and integrated staff members from Argentina, Brazil, Cananda, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and the United States.
