Description
Español: La Iglesia San Felipe Neri, una de las iglesias coloniales existentes en el Casco Antiguo, fue edificada después del traslado al sitio del Ancón en la nueva Ciudad de Panamá luego de ocurrir la toma, incendio y saqueo de Panamá la Vieja por el pirata Henry Morgan y sus huestes el 28 de enero de 1671.

En esta Iglesia se puede disfrutar de la paz y tranquilidad que ofrece toda su arquitectura interna, permitiéndonos también apreciar el hermoso púlpito de madera en la parte frontal. Los púlpitos disponen de antepecho o pretil y tornavoz o sombrero superior.

Los púlpitos se utilizaron en las primitivas iglesias o basílicas llamándose precisamente ambones. Se disponían a la entrada del coro a manera de tribuna rectangular sobre una plataforma de poca elevación, a la cual se subía por gradas laterales y en ellos se cantaban la epístola y el Evangelio en las Misas solemnes y se anunciaban al pueblo las fiestas.

Es conocido que el sacerdote se subía en esta plataforma de madera a predicar la palabra de Dios a los fieles creyentes.
