Deutsch: Pöttmesser-Krippe
Großkrippe des Südtiroler Figurenschnitzers Ferdinand Pöttmesser (1895 - 1977) im Pfarrhof von Christkindl, Gemeinde Steyr (Oberösterreich). Eine der größten Weihnachtskrippen der Welt. Die 1959 begonnene Krippe hat eine Ausdehnung von 58 m² und stellt eine orientalische Landschaft dar. Sie wird von 778 geschnitzten und bekleideten, bis zu 30 cm großen Figuren bevölkert.
English: Pöttmesser’s nativity scene. Giant nativity scene in the manse of Christkindl, municipality of Steyr (Upper Austria). One of the largest nativity scenes in the world. It was created by and named after the South Tyrol figure whittler Ferdinand Pöttmesser (1895 - 1977). Pöttmesser began his work on the scene in 1959. It covers an area of 58 m² (69.4 sq yds) and displays an Oriental landscape populated by 778 whittled and dressed figures measuring up to 30 cm (11.8 inches). |
