Close-up of a gloved hand holding a Castnet filterpack

An ozone sampler, which measures ozone levels, is located at the top of the tipping tower. Next to it is a Clean Air Status and Trends Network (CASTNet) sampler, which measures dry nitrogen and sulfur deposition. The tower is lowered weekly for maintenance. Much safer than climbing to the top! Scientists use data from these monitors to determine how healthy ozone levels in the park are, and what portion of nitrogen and sulfur in the park is not from precipitation.
