Summary

Description
Langhylurin í Vági er her í ferð við at blíva bygdur. Hann verður væntandi liðugur á sumri 2014.
English: In the foreground there are boat houses which are in the sheadow of the mountain on the opposite site of the fjord. The photo was taken early in the morning 30 May 2013. In the middle of the photo is the first 50-meter swimming pool in the Faroe Islands under construction. Much of it is made by volunteers. It is expected to be finished in the summer of 2014. To the right of the photo is the SEV powerplant in Vágur and the reflections of it in the sea of Vágsfjørður (fjord). The reason that the 50-meter swimming pool is being built here in an area which is mainly for industy is that the swimming pool will be heated with unused heat from the SEV power plant and therefore it will not be so expensive to heat the water in the pool. Other reasons for the pool being built her in Vágur, other than getting cheap heating, is that the best Faroese swimmer ever Pál Joensen, comes from this village, he has won medals at World Championship and European Championships and competed at the Olympics, and he never had a 50-meter pool to practice here in the Faroe Islands. He has now moved to Copenhagen in Denmark to study and swim, but this swimming pool will be a good investment for the other swimmers in Suðuroy island and for swimmers from the other islands of the Faroes. And Pál Joensen's coach Jón Bjarnason is still here.
