Summary
[edit]DescriptionOxford Road timber roof.jpg |
English: Pevsner says it is "one of the most remarkable and unusual stations in the country for architectural form and technological interest." One aspect is the widespread use of timber, including innovative laminated forms to create "conoid shell roof forms". The roof is formed of prefabricated timber shells (an inverted prow at the entrance), and timber is used extensively inside. It was built in 1958-60 to the designs of British Railways London Midland Region's architects with engineer Hugh Tottenham of the Timber Development Association. Grade II listed. |
