Description

Last week we disturbed an adult <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jean_hort/6528140805/">owlfly </a>. Yesterday I noticed one flying through the air. I thought it was a dragonfly and waited for it to settle. It was another Owlfly adult the same species as we had seen a few days previous. After wandering around the reserve for a while Fred tried photographing a native bee close to the ground and noticed an owlfly larvae.

It was so fascinating. I wanted to bring it home and watch how it lived but I don't have the facilities to do something like that.

Size: 15mm from tail to end of nippers when they were forward.
