Description

This image shows plate LXXVII (= 77). Jones’ original description of this plate from his “Description of the plates” (page 9–15), transcribed literally, using Jones’ orthography:

“From a painted china Bottle. A composition in the fragmentary style. Pure Chinese in character.”

Additional hints by Commons users:

The image shows many little scratches, traces of dust etc.; many of these artifacts are already present in the reprint, and must originate either from the original chromolithographic print, or from the offset reproduction process which was needed to produce the reprint.

InfoField
This image file uses the sRGB colour space. (Fortunately today most systems and applications respect colour spaces and ICC profiles. But there may still be some exceptions: outdated or misconfigured software can display wrong colours. If you see strange colours or if the picture appears flat and low in contrast, you should try another application or device for viewing it.)
