Description |
Egyptian faience overseer shabti from the buial of Queen Henuttaway. This dark blue Faience shabti was excavated from the famous Deir El Bahari cache between c.1871=1881 AD. Queen Henutawy (c.1069 - 1043 BC) was the daughter of King Smendes, and was married to Pinudjem, a priest. : They were buried together and local villagers uncovered their tomb (DB.320 at Deir el-Bahari in Thebes) in 1871, and kept it a secret in order to sell the contents. The tomb was rediscovered by the authorities in 1881 by which time many items, including Pinudjem's mummy, had vanished. The Mummy of Queen Henuttaway is now in the Cairo Museum |
