English: After a period of a few hours without opening of the lock of the Grand-Carré (at the exit of Lille on the Deûle Canal) the sediments were deposited and the water of the Basse-Deûle (downstream of Lille) had become more clear.
At the time of the photo, the lock has just opened. A much more turbid inflow of water from the Haute-Deûle and the lock chamber (where a barge is engaged) comes here to mix with the clearer water. It is not known how fish and other organisms respond to this type of perturbation (day and night). Their reactions could potentially be studied thanks to the underwater robot project under development in the framework of the Ch'tiPlouf project (hosted by Wikiversity: projet de recherche (mise au point d'un drone subaquatique) (conception of a ROV-Drone aimed at inventory / photograph / film and study of underwater biodiversity '). The first prototype must indeed be built at ISEN university, less than 2 km from where this picture was taken. |
