ized delights, to ourpresent enjoyment of floating along, car-ing not whither we went. Next day wearrived at the Indian River Inlet. HereI had often found good fishing on formertrips, so we decided to put in severaldays at channel bass. During the firstof these, owing to a cold north wind, thefishing was poor, but the fourth day thewind went south and the weather becamewarm. Tom, disgusted with our poorluck, refused to move from the sailboat,so, taking a boat, I left him to row upone of the channels that run from theinlet to the Indian River. I stopped ata large deep pond caused by a suddencurve in the creek. Putting on a spoonbait I cast it astern, then letting the roddown so that my feet controlled thehandle of the reel I proceeded to layaround, letting out line when I thoughtnecessary. GOOD DIGESTION WAITS ON APPETITE. well as my hands, I could do very goodtrolling by myself. I had rowed barelyhalf a minute and not thirty feet of linehad run out, when there was a suddenjerk and the reel buzzed. Dropping theoars I seized the rod and then followedfifteen minutes of such pleasure as only afisherman can feel. At the end of this time I had broughtthe bass alongside the boat and gaffedhim. On weighing him on my scales hepulled beyond the twelve-pound notch.Casting him in the bow I began again tofish. Within two minutes I had anotherone, and once more I was in the seventhheaven of a fishermans delight, playingmy catch. The day turned out to be ared-letter one. For four hours, until fulltide, my good luck continued. At 5oclock I started to row back to the sail-boat to get my well-earned, but, unfor-tunately, canned dinner. Nineteen chan-nel bass lay in the boat, glittering proofsof a great days sport. The lightestweighed six pounds, the heaviest six-teen ; the total weight
