t more fun to cheer on some horse you helter-skelter rush homeward in the twi-light when the white ribbon of highwaywhich climbs the autumn hills, is all aclat-ter with the wagons, buggies and carryallsof the folks bound homeward from the fair.There is much good horseflesh along thiscountryside, and the young man who hastaken his best girl to the fair is not inclinedto take the dust of his neighbors teams,especially when he has hitched up thesorrel colt to make its formal debut at thisyears fair. The up-to-date State Exposi-tion, advertises all manner of eveningamusements, from fireworks to open airtheaters, but our old-fashioned fair used toend with daylight. We sang Seeing NellyHome, and My Bonny Lies Over theOcean, as we drove home in the shadows,and maybe we did hold her hand. And Iwant to know if it wasnt a great deal morefun to end the day in this way than to hangaround the fair grounds until midnightlooking at cheap shows and getting so leg-weary that all the pleasure was gone?
