THORNWELL HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATING CLASS—1946 Thornwell Orphanage is owned and controlled by the Synods of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida,and is supported from the budgets of Churches, Sunday Schools, Auxiliaries, special Thanksgiving Offer-ings and individual gifts. At Thornwell the Church is providing a Christian home and school for children who otherwise would havenone. The neediest cases are given preference in admission. Thornwell trains children for a better andfuller Christian life and places a three-fold emphasis on this training: Physical—Realizing that recreation furnishes important character-building values, Thornwell gives fullemphases to the play life of her children. The little children spend all their time in play. The other chil-dren spend part of their time in departmental woik, but always there are several hours each day for re-creation.
