Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This photograph of gunners rushing to man two anti-aircraft guns may have been a contrived shot, as the man in the foreground is grinning broadly, which seems unlikely if this was a real incident. Anti-aircraft guns became increasingly important as the role of the air force developed during the war.

The guns are mounted on lorries. The one in the front has the name 'Peerless' on the front of the radiator. Peerless lorries were made in Cleveland, North America. After the war, many of these lorries were refitted in a factory of the same name set up in Slough, England.
