Summary

[edit]
Description
English: BANK BRANCH CONVERTED INTO A CONSERVATORY

On April 29, 1903, a Bulgarian revolutionary committee attacked the Ottoman Bank Salonica (Thessaloniki) branch, which was first opened in 1863. As a result of this bomb attack, the building was partially burnt and destroyed. A new building, designed by architect Vitaliano Poselli, was used as a bank branch between 1904 and 1938 and later by IKA, the Greek Social Insurance Company, from 1951 to 1978. After the 1978 earthquake the building was restored and today exists as the premises of the Conservatory of Salonica.
