VS: Portrait Lilienthals mit Umschrift"OTTO LILIENTHAL MDCCCXLVIII-XCVI NON OMNIS MORIAR"(1848-96, Ich werde nicht sterben), RS: Inschrift "FÜR HERVORRAGENDE VERDIENSTE DIE WISSENSCHAFTLICHEGESELLSCHAFT FÜR LUFTFAHRT". Die Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Luftfahrt wurde 1914 gegründet und ging 1936 in der "Lilienthal-Gesellschaft für Luftfahrtforschung" auf. Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Luft- und Raumfahrt – Lilienthal-Oberth e.V. verleiht die Otto-Lilienthal-Medaille seit 1991 wieder als höchste Auszeichnung, in deutlicher Anlehnung an das Vorbild, jedoch Neuprägung und kleiner: Buntmetall geprägt und vergoldet, 35 mm, mit angeprägter Öse mit Bandring, daran etwa 90 cm lange, ebenfalls vergoldete Halskette, bis 2015 12 Verleihungen.
