Ab-dominal treatment should not be attempted. If the temperature is too high, 104 degrees,inhibit the superior cervical ganglia, fig. 15. The patient must never be allowed to leave thebed. A bedpan and urinal must be used. Spongethe body with tepid water daily. Drink plentywater. Diet must be absolutely fluid. Whenconvalescent the hearty appetite should be grati-fied with the greatest caution. The liquid dietshould continue at least a week after the tem-perature has been normal, and then followed bysemi-solid food for a month, before regular solidfood is safe. Great attention must be given to general clean-liness of the sick room, adequate ventilation;largest room in the house should be used; andnormal temperature of the room steadily main-tained, sterilizing of the stools and urine; disin-
