Summary

[edit]
Description

Osteina obducta (Berk.) Donk

Image location: Apache National Forest, Apache Co., Arizona, USA

Cap colors remind me a little of A. fletti but less blue gray more gray brown with orange tones. A. confluens can have gray tints in the cap but perhaps more pinkish overall.

PS This was collected by a fellow forager. When I first saw it I assumed it was terrestrial and therefore Albatrellus. I later found out he collected it on well rotted wood in an area pine, spruce, fir and aspen—likely a rotted conifer.

Recognized by sight: Multiple spoon shaped gray brown caps, tiny white pores, fused lateral stems
