| Description | This is the only surviving statue of king Osorkon III of the who ruled Upper Egypt for 28 years during the {w|Third Intermediate Period of Egypt}}. It depicts Osorkon III crawling and pushing forth a statue of the god Seker. The statue’s text upon the base gives his royal name and titles.It was found in the famous Karnak Cachette cachette was discovered within the famous Karnak Cachette where it had been buried in the north-west section of the courtyard of the Precinct of Amun-Re, in front of the Seventh Pylon. The French Egyptologist Georges Legrain discovered the Karnak Cachette, which consisted of nearly 800 stone statues and 17,000 bronze statues as well as various other artifacts, between 1903-1905. This object’s museum catalogue number is JE 37426 and is situated in the Ground floor, gallery 15 of the Egyptian Museum of Cairo. This photo was personally taken by Merja Attia of Finland. |
