English: Orton & Steinbrenner Co - Locomotive Cranes and Grab Buckets - Material Handling Machinery - Chicago, Illinois and Huntingdon, Indiana
Bulletin No. 9 THE purpose of this bulletin is to illustrate a few of the many types of locomotive cranes and buckets manufactured by the Orton & Steinbrenner Co. and to call attention to a few of their many advantages. It is not intended to fully describe or illustrate their details;—we shall be pleased to submit complete proposition and specifications on your particular requirements if you will outline them to us. Remember That We Build All Types for All Places We use the very best workmanship and material throughout our cranes and buckets. Our designs are the most "up to date" on the market and are the result of many years of experience in the design, manufacture and operation of such equipment. They have been made the standard of many large railroads and other corporations and their popularity is evidenced by a demand for them which has always taxed our producing capacity to the utmost. LET US SHOW YOU OUR CRANES IN OPERATION IN order to enable us to intelligently quote I you upon the type of crane best suited to your requirements, we should be given the following information. 1. Do you desire crane for standard, or broad gauge track? 2. Do you desire 4 wheel or 8 wheel car body? The latter is far more preferable for switching and general work and is always shipped by us on its own wheels, saving cost of erection. We also include all car body ballast on 8 wheel cranes unless advised to omit it. 3. Capacities of standard gauge cranes are rated by what they will safely lift at any given radius from the pivot pin with boons in any direction with reference to track and without the use of outriggers or rail clamps. The capacities of our various designs of cranes at various radii are given on page 20 of this bulletin. If crane is to handle loads with fall block, .advise as approximate capacity you desire as shown the table. 4. Do you desire crane equipped to handle grab bucket? If so, what kind of material do you intend to handle and about what capacity per hour do you require? 5. Do you desire crane equipped to handle electro-magnet? If so, do you desire generating set installed on crane;—or will current be supplied from your lines? In the latter case direct current must be sup-plied and preferably at 220 volts pressure. 6. Do you desire full steel cab, or steel canopy only? 7. Do you desire any special equipment, such as pile driver leads, steam shovel attachment, attach-ments for handling drag line bucket, etc.? |
