Description
English: Ors (France - Nord department) - Monument of the Westen Front Association.
On 4th november 1918, the British 32nd Division grossed the Sambre-Oise Canal here, at Ors. In the face of strong opposition. During the assault four VCS were won. Among the casualties was the poet, Lieutenant Owen Mc, 2nd Battalion Manchester Regiment, who was killed on the towpath on this side of the canal about on Kilometre to the North of the bridge.
«Let my death be memories on this disc*,.Wear it, sweet friend, Inscribe no date, nor death but let my heart-beat kiss it night and day until the name grow vague and wear away». (With an identity Disc).

Le 4 novembre 1918, la 32e division britannique a franchi le canal Sambre – Oise, ici même à Ors, face à une forte opposition. Pendant l'assaut, quatre VCS* ont été gagné(e)s. Parmi les victimes, le poète lieutenant Wilfred Owen, Mc*, du 2e Bataillon du Manchester Régiment ; tué sur le chemin de halage de ce côté du canal, à environ un kilomètre au nord du pont.

Traduction à revoir :«Que cette plaque* soit le souvenir de ma mort. Porte-la doux ami, n'inscris ni date, ni mort, mais laisse les battements de mon cœur l'embrasser nuit et jour jusqu'à ce que le nom devienne vague et s'efface».
