Summary
[edit]DescriptionOrpington Priory - geograph.org.uk - 624570.jpg |
English: Orpington Priory The first record of this house dates back to 1270, with the oldest part of the current building dating from around 1300. Despite the name, it was not monastic, but served as the rectory for All Saints Church. As such it is one of the few pre-reformation rectories to have survived. It is now the local museum, with the local library housed in a modern extension.
Grade II* listed - for listing particulars see http://www.heritagegateway.org.uk/Gateway/Results_Single.aspx?uid=358380&resourceID=5. |
