[edit]DescriptionOrnamen Kumudawati Pura Mangkunegara.jpg |
English: Kumudawati the origin of the word from Kumuda which means White Lotus, and Wati which means World / Jagat / Nur / Light. Lotus is believed to be a symbol of purity, and a connection with the beginning of the existence of the gods. The eight-petite kumuda petals are also associated with the gods in the direction of the compass.
Kumudawati has meaning as the world of the gods, or a way of approaching oneself through rahsa to God, or the light of God that reveals in an ornament. In the kumudawati ornament there is a teaching that in living the life of Javanese people must get closer to God so that humans always get God's light and always in a sacred state. The making of kumudawati ornament was inspired by the picture of kumudawatiwa in beber Pacitan originating from klika wiwitan (gedhong paper or Ponorogo paper) in 1910. The idea of making the motif was only realized in 1937 at the initiative of Mangkunegara VII. Ornaments of Kumudawati, Mangkunegara VII, emphasize that although he has a Western education and lives in Western culture, he always upholds Javanese culture. |
