Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Built in 1904, this eclectic Mediterranean Revival and Arts and Crafts-style house was designed by Frank H. Chappelle for Orin Foster, co-founder of the Foster-Milburn Company, which manufactured patent medicines, and for whom Foster Hall, the first building to be constructed on Main Street campus of the University at Buffalo, is named. The house features a rusticated stone exterior, arched window openings with transoms on the second floor, replacement windows, exposed rafter ends at the wide overhanging eaves of the hipped roof, hipped and gabled dormers, a front porch with arched openings, octagonal stone columns, and stone railings, and a front entry door with a fanlight transom. Behind the house stands a simpler carriage house, built in a complimentary style, with a hipped roof and wall dormers. The house, like most on Delaware Avenue, has been adaptively reused as a commercial office building.
