English: Remains of the original house of birth of Martin Luther in Eisleben, Germany. The building was destroyed by a fire in 1689 AD. In 1693 AD the town's government built a bigger and more prominent building at the same place. In 2006 an excavation by the Landesamt fuer Denkmalpflege und Archaeologie Sachsen-Anhalt led by Ch. Matthes uncovered carbonized beams and clay of the flooring of the old building. (Photo by Ch. Matthes)
