Description Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber briefs Oregon Army National Guard Maj. Gen. Daniel Hokanson, Adjutant General, Oregon, emergency managers and other fire managers at a fire camp near Ashland, Ore., Aug. 5. The Oregon Army National Guard is supporting firefighting efforts for the Oregon Gulch fire in the area. The Governor thanked all the workers, highlighting how important it is for Oregonians to be aware of the ongoing fire season. Fire managers have said this is the worst fire season to date. As part of the overall fire suppression efforts, the Oregon Army National Guard has provided two CH-47 Chinook helicopters and two HH-60M Blackhawk helicopters to assist local authorities with fighting the wildfires.
