The fine pure bred shorthornherd formerly belonging to the Earl of Dunmore liasbeen dispersed, but a few of the leading proprietorskeep small herds. The horses are chielly Clydcsd;i ts,and some of the farmers are well-known breeders. Thebest sheep are blackfaced, but there are also Leicestersand crosses. In 1884 there were in the county 986turkeys, 440 geese, 3712 ducks, and 36,851 fowls.Of 1537 holdings in the county, 789 were 50 acresand under, 382 between 50 and 100, 329 between 100and 300, 29 between 300 and 500, 7 between 500and 1000, and 1 abov
