Order of Parte Guelfa

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The emblem of Parte Guelfa, visible in many Florentine public and religious buildings, shows a red eagle holding a green dragon and surmounted by the Florentine lily in a silver background. The arms were kindly granted by Pope Clement IV to the consuls of the knights of the Guelph Part of Florence in gratitude for the decisive participation alongside Charles I of Anjou in the aftermath of the battle of Benevento in 1266.
