Description
English:

Several mature fruit trees with short trunks and bowl-shaped canopies grow in a grid pattern on short turf, with farm structures and fencing in the background.

The orchard at the Eisenhower Farm is both a reflection of the farm's historic character and a reminder of the landscape practices during the Eisenhowers’ ownership. Eisenhower favored a layout for the farm landscape that was attractive but could also be useful and economical to maintain. The orchard was planted around 1955 and maintained at the farm despite low yields. By 1969, the orchard contained twenty-four fruit trees, including sixteen apples, six peaches, and two nectarines. The fruit was picked and sent to the White House and Col. John Eisenhower's family, with the rest kept on the farm. It was noted that President Eisenhower liked to show his orchard to visiting dignitaries, such as Churchill and Montgomery.
