Description

Oranjestad. Aruba has a new, free trolley service. It has open, battery-powered cars. The line runs from the cruise ship port on Caya Betico Croes (now renamed Main Street), an shopping street which runs diagonally inland. That street was turned into a pedestrian area, dedicated to the trolley.

The trolley opened at the end of 2012, and was in full operation in early 2013. Its main aim is apparently to bolster businesses behind the main streets. It passes no tourist attraction. You cannot see the Fort Zoutman tower from the trolley route.

This shows the trolley with passengers, ready to leave the cruise ship area.
