Description
English: Infographic describing the chronology of the discovery of Optical Fiber, with major milestones, scientists, and countries involved. Taking as major milestone the empirical and serendipitous discovery of Jean-Daniel Colladon in 1841 (the Fountain of Light and Total Internal Reflection), previous theoretical findings and post theoretical and practical discoveries are reviewed, up to the FTTH (Fiber to the Home) technology ubiquitous today in most developed countries.
Español: Infografía que muestra la cronología del descubrimiento de la Fibra Óptica, con los principales hitos, los científicos claves y los países implicados. Tomando como punto de partida el descubrimiento empírico y causal de Jean-Daniel Colladon en 1841 (Fuente de Luz y Reflexión Interna Total), se revisan los descubrimientos teóricos anteriores que explicaban el fenómeno, así como los avances científicos posteriores que posibilitaron su implementación práctica en la tecnología de la fibra óptica, hasta llegar al FTTH (fibra hasta el hogar), presente actualmente (2015) en la mayoría de países desarrollados.

Prenent com a punt inicial el descobriment empíric i casual de Jean-Daniel Colladon al 1841 (Font de Llum i Reflexió Interna Total), es revisen els descobriments teòrics anteriors que explicaven el fenòmen, així com els avenços científics posteriors que possibilitaren la seva implementació pràctica en la tecnologia de fibra óptica, fins a arribar al FTTH (fibra fins la llar) implantada avui en dia (2015) a gairebé tots els països desenvolupats.
