[edit]DescriptionOppelschacht 003.JPG |
English: Oppelschacht – office building of the Royal-Saxon Collieries Zauckerode. Today the building houses a centre for children and youngsters and a municipal district library.
In 1830 planned the counsellor of the Royal Saxon Mountain Board a main shaft of higher efficiency to replace thirteen dispersed hoisting shafts of the Zauckerode collieries. The shaft was sunk in 1833 as Prince Friedrich Shaft into a depth of 222 m. When it´s creator died in the same year, his name was given to the shaft. In 1882 the first electric locomotive of the world, called "Dorothea", was commissioned for a main transportation gallery across the seam. In 1948, soon after the collieries came into state ownership, the mine was renamed into Arthur-Teuchert-Schacht. Teuchert (1897—1952), a face worker, increased his production up to a pre-arranged 480 percent quota to strengthen the low socialist productivity. In 1958 the deposit was depleted and the colliery closed.
