DescriptionOpo Terser - White Crab Spider (Thomisidae) (by).jpg |
I'm going through all the photos I took this last summer trying to find any overlooked fun shots. The weather has turned quite cold here, and sadly, the bugs are largely gone now. So I'll probably be pulling some older photos out of my archives instead of posting new stuff for a while. Also, hopefully I can get a chance to return to astrophotography during these cold winter months until the bugs return. I'm not well versed with crab spiders, and don't find them too often. I found this little white one last July (maybe June?) on group of flowers. I know all crab spiders belong to the family Thomisidae, but other than that I'm not even sure what genus this one belongs to. The photo is a very slight crop taken at 2:1 (more or less) with the 50mm reversed on some extension tubes (or a 2x teleconverter, I can't remember exactly). Feel free to offer any guesses at the species, as I have no idea! On a different subject, I recently started a seperate flickr account to store some of my artwork, which includes some graphite, charcoal, and pastel sketches so far. If your interested, some of my more recent artwork can be found here: www.flickr.com/photos/33209413@N02/ |
