Treatment of Fracture of the Lower Jaw.A piece of pasteboard, (Fig. 3,) softened in boiling water, should befitted to the jaw, and then a four-tailed bandage should be applied.This is made by taking a yard and a half of wide roller, and tearingeach end longitudinally, so as to leave about eight inches in themiddle untorn, with the exception of a short slit in it. The chin isto be put in this slit, and then two of the tails are to be tied over thecrown of the head, so as to fix the lower jaw against the upper, andthe other two are to be tied behind the head. The teeth on eitherside of the fracture may be fastened together with thread. It isuseful to place a thin, wedge-shaped piece of cork between the molarteeth on each side, especially if any of the teeth at the fracturedpart are deficient. If a tooth falls down between the fracturedparts, it should be replaced, or removed if necessary. If this treatment does not
