By Mr. Liston.The clavicle was first cut down upon, the incision being made todiverge a little on each side of the tumor, towards its mesialaspect, as in Fig. 10. The bone was partly sawed through, withinthree quarters of an inch of its sternal extremity, and then clippedacross by the cutting forceps. The cut end was raised by meansof a screw elevator, (Plate LI. Fig. 8,) which was fixed, as in thefigure, in the medullary cavity. The incisions were then carriedround the base of the swelling, including a large portion of theintegument. The deep dissection was carried as close as possibleto the tumor and bone, which it invested completely. The muscularfibres, and the conoid and trapezoid ligaments having been cut, nodifficulty was experienced in disarticulation. Fig. 11. Spina Ventosa. From Liston.
