Fig. 5, from a preparation of Mr. Fergussons, in Kings Col-lege Museum, shows a femoral hernia, with its relation to the otherparts which pass under Pouparts ligament. Externally are seensections of the iliacus and psoas muscles, with the crural nerve be-tween them; then, the femoral artery and vein ; next, the hernia,which passes through a small aperture, occupied by an absorbentgland in the normal state, and is bounded by Gimbernats ligamenton its inner side. The hernia passes downward in the sheath ofthe femoral vessels, separated, however, from the vein, as that isfrom the artery, by a process of cellular tissue.
