The method of introduction of the litho-trite and the process of catching and crushing the stone are similar in thisoperation to the ordinary method, except that the crushing process is inter-rupted by the introduc-tion of the evacuatingcatheter as soon as thestone is well broken,which may be withinfive or ten minutesafter the introductionof the lithotrite, de-pending, of course, up-on the success attend-ing the efforts of theoperator. A well-lu-bricated aseptic evacu-ating catheter is thenpassed down to theprostatic urethra, butnot into the bladder,closely hugging theurethral roof and care-fully avoiding the tri-angular ligament as itpasses. The washer isthen attached to thecatheter at this situa-tion to avoid the en-trance of air into thebladder.
