Monument staat op de hoek Burgemeester Stamplein/Nieuweweg. Dit is niet de oorspronkelijke plaats. Het monument stond eerst op het plein voor het Raadhuis. Deze plek deed het monument echter niet de eer aan die het verdiende. Vandaar dat enkele jaren geleden is besloten een waardiger plaats te zoeken. Dat is de plaats geworden waar het monument nu staat.
