Thehard waer is supplied from either a deep or shallow well, and is used for laundry, kitchen andsanitary purposes in the house, and for watering stock, sprinkling, etc., out of doors. It isalso u ed for operating a water lift which supplies soft water from a cistern for kitchen,laundry and bathing purposes by means of a smaller pneumatic tank located in the basement.While this system may look somewhat complicated, it is in reality very simple. Beingpositively automatic it requires no attention other than the oiling of the windmill. The pumpis provided with a hydraulic cylimler which controls the operation of the mill by the rise andfall of the pressure in the hard water tank.
