Description
日本語: 大野島開拓発祥の記念碑。もとは筑後川河口の水面であったが、小さな中州ができ、そこに1587年（天正15年）柳川藩主の命で葦が植え堆積を促し、この付近を起点に陸地が南方に拡大していった。1601年（慶長6年）から柳川藩の津村三郎左衛門が中心となり開拓が進められた。参考：現地案内板（大川市教育委員会）。福岡県大川市大野島。
