English: Colour woodblock print, oban triptych. The kabuki actors (right sheet) Onoe Kikugoro IV as the shirabyoshi Hanako, standing at a temple gate with a bell hanging at upper left and a signboard on the right that reads ‘Women forbidden at the present time’ (‘Nyonin kinsei toji’, 女人禁制 当時); (centre sheet) Nakamura Tsuruzo I as the priest Shujakubo, crouching below and looking up to the right, and Ichimura Uzaemon XIII as the priest Baikobo, standing, looking to the left; and (left sheet) Nakamura Fukusuke I as the second shirabyoshi Sakuragi, standing by another temple gate, with a signboard at centre right that reads ‘Deacon, memorial service for the bell at this time’ (‘Shitsuji kane kuyo toji, 執事 鐘供養 当時); in the dance ‘Edoganoko ninin Dojoji’ (東鹿助二人道成寺); performed at the Nakamura-za from the 9th day of the 3rd month of 1860 (Man’en 1).
