Summary
[edit]DescriptionOmaha Fire Department No. 5 Douglas Co NE south and east facades.jpg |
English: Omaha Fire Department No. 5
Fire stations were significant to urban development in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century since a fire could quickly destroy a business or an entire city. Industrial ventures like meatpacking plants that were essentially South Omaha’s reason for existence were particularly susceptible to fire due to stockpiles of combustible fuel sources or manufacturing materials.
