Deutsch: Vorderseite: Viergespann (quadriga) im Schritt nach r. Der Wagenlenker hält in der l. Hand die Zügel der Pferde, in der erhobenen R. eine Peitsche. Im Winkel der Peitsche eine große Kugel.
Rückseite: Quadratum incusum mit kleinerem Mittelquadrat, darin fliegt ein Adler mit ausgebreiteten Schwingen nach l. Der breite Rand darum ist wie ein Rahmen mit aufgerauter Oberfläche und Gehrung gestaltet. Kommentar: Auf Grund des Rückseitenmotivs des fliegenden Adlers wurde diese Münze von Friedländer und von Sallet Olynth zugeteilt. Dagegen wendet sich Gaebler entschieden. Cahn meint, dass die Münzen in den Bereich der frühen makedonisch-thrakischen Münzprägung gehören. Wie er anmerkt, beobachteten schon Babelon und Gaebler die große Ähnlichkeit der Quadrigaseite mit den ersten Münzen von Syrakus. Daraus wird gefolgert, dass die vorliegenden Münzen als Modelle für die frühen syrakusanischen Münzbilder gedient haben. Literatur: H. Gaebler, Zur Münzkunde Makedoniens VI, ZfN 35, 1925, 198; H. A.
