Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Olympic plaque. The S.S. Olympic was sister ship to the Titanic. After that ship sank, Cunard never really warmed to Olympic and it was sent to Tyneside to be broken up in 1936. From there the whole of the first class lounge was dismantled and re-mantled in this hotel, the White Swan in Alnwick. If you get the chance go and have afternoon tea there, and dream. The cleaners seem to like copious quantities of brasso, but don't buff it properly. There is a view of the hotel here 1521793
