DescriptionOlympian passenger train, Malden, Washington, 1911 - DPLA - 94289d20633c2ddd6f0280faf27d95a9.jpg | Written on the reverse of this postcard is the following: "The engine in picture burns oil not coal." The Olympian was operated by the Chicago, Milwaukee, and Puget Sound Railroad. In this image, the Olympian is being pulled by locomotive number 3018. Number 3018 was a Class F4 Pacific 4-6-2 locomotive and was built by the Milwaukee shops in June 1910. The locomotive was scrapped in April 1953. This postcard photo features the Olympian first fast train which stopped in Malden, Washington on May 29, 1911. (Description from postcard and Steven Shook). | |||||||||||
