Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Oldlands Mill Originally built as an open trestle mill around 1700 with the roundhouse, which is actually octagonal in shape, added at a later date. The mill continued working until the early 20th century and was then abandoned. The Sussex Archaeological Society acquired it in 1927 and although repaired it soon began to deteriorate again until by the mid 1970s it was close to collapse. Since then the mill has been painstakingly refurbished with many parts having to be built from scratch. In October 2007 the sails were restored and the following year the mill ground its first batch of corn for over one hundred years. The mill is now looked after and run by the Oldland Mill Trust which has major open days about three times a year and a few quieter Sunday afternoon minor days in between.
