Summary
[edit]DescriptionOld stone tablet, New End - geograph.org.uk - 617923.jpg |
English: Old stone tablet, New End Very difficult to decipher owing to erosion but the inscription relates to the Hampstead Provident Dispensary established here in 1853, funded by money collected in local churches and chapels in thanksgiving for the parish's escape from the 'visitation of cholera' in 1849. The building also housed a soup kitchen for the poor.
The inscription ends 'He shall deliver thee from the noisome pestilence'. |
